FlyBe is up for sale…

Brexit & fuel costs have been blamed for forcing FlyBe to put itself up for sale.

The UK based airline has put itself up for sale after a savage profit warning was issued sending share prices to a spiral downward. The board are exploring options to either sell or merge with a rival airline amidst projected loss of £12m this year.

Bankers at Evercore have been brought in to help negotiate a deal.

FlyBe has cut hundreds of jobs but still maintains a fleet of 78 aircraft. The airline, one of the UK’s best known brands, carries thousands of passengers across the UK and into Europe however now faces the same fate as Monarch Airlines.

What does the future hold for FlyBe?

That is the question that I would love answered however at this stage no one knows. FlyBe uses the Avios currency (you do not earn BA tier points however) so will BA look at a possible takeover? Will another low cost carrier buy or merge with FlyBe (EasyJet, Norwegian, Ryanair perhaps)

Only time will tell, we will update as news develops.

What would you like to see happen to FlyBe? Let us know…
